$25, which also includes your admission to the show!!  Incredible value for such a great, informative class!  This class will provide practice and pointers for all levels, but it’s mostly geared towards beginners.  We will start with cardboard sticks and tempera paint and progress to making letters with ink and italic pens.  You will be amazed at the beautiful letters you will be able to write after only two hours.

Deborah Basel is a member and past President of the Washington Calligraphers Guild and member of the International Association of Master Penmen, Engrossers, and Teachers of Handwriting (IAMPETH) and the Society of Scribes.   She is also Contributing Editor for Pen World Magazine.  She has been teaching calligraphy classes and special classes for children at Bertram’s Inkwell and at pen shows for over 10 years.

Kids learn about the history of writing with fun,  hands-on experience.  They will grind ink and use tools such as a bamboo pen, quill, and brushes.  Each child who participates will receive their name in calligraphy, their very own fountain pen to keep, and have a chance to win a prize drawing!  Class is sponsored through the Pen Collectors of America (PCA)
